According to the PlayStation Blog, Doom: The Dark Ages is getting a free update on July 7 that implements the upgraded PSSR, an improved version of the PS5 Pro's Spectral Super Resolution upscaler. The update launches alongside the Revelations DLC expansion.
Sony states the enhanced PSSR delivers "the cleanest image we can deliver on the platform." The technology proves particularly relevant for a fast-paced game like Doom: The Dark Ages, enabling sharper details on armor edges and environmental textures while preserving smooth performance during action.
The PSSR upscaler rolled out on PS5 Pro earlier this year and now expands support to additional titles. The update is exclusive to PS5 Pro owners; standard PS5 users will not gain access to the improved PSSR support.
