Blizzard fires developer who used GM powers to instantly kill raid bosses for friends

A World of Warcraft developer was fired from Blizzard Entertainment after being caught using game master powers to instantly defeat two raid bosses in a high-level Mythic+ dungeon run, according to PC Gamer, GamesRadar, and other outlets.

The incident surfaced when Reddit users posted combat logs showing a boss with nearly full health drop instantly to a developer-exclusive ability. Minutes later, evidence emerged that the same GM had used the same trick earlier in the run. One of the players present later admitted on a livestream: "I go to my GM friend and I'm like bro please can you do me a solid? This thing has 20 million health, can you please just one-shot it?"

Per PC Gamer, for the GM to execute these abilities in real time, she would have needed to spectate the dungeon, which is uncommon in current World of Warcraft. The act directly violated fair-play standards for competitive high-end content and prompted swift community backlash.

Blizzard confirmed the developer is "no longer with the company," according to PCGamesN. The incident reignited discussion about oversight and integrity in competitive endgame content within the MMO.
