Path of Exile 2 director jokes about exploit that broke the game's economy

Path of Exile 2's director commented on an exploit that destabilized the game's economy during the latest season. According to PC Gamer, the exploitation involved the temple system, a mechanic that lets players build their own dungeons by connecting different rooms. What was meant to serve only a new boss and exclusive loot became the game's most profitable way to earn items.

Players discovered a strategy that included locking a character in the campaign and repeatedly resetting a level to gradually expand the temple into a money-making machine. The result was so severe that the developer had to interrupt its holiday break to fix the problem.

In a lighthearted tone, the director stated that the exploit "ruined Christmas" for him and joked that he's "lost all sympathy" for those who exploited the flaw. Grinding Gear Games continues working to balance Path of Exile 2, which remains in early access.
