Dead by Daylight Marks 10 Years With New Killers, Movie, and Visual Overhaul Announcements

June 15, 2026 · 1 min read · Notering

Dead by Daylight reached its tenth anniversary on Friday, June 14, and Behaviour Interactive seized the occasion to announce a slate of new content and updates. The asymmetrical multiplayer title, which has been played by 70 million players worldwide, solidifies itself as one of the most enduring live-service horror games ever made.

Among the major announcements is the confirmed arrival of Art the Clown from the Terrifier film franchise as a new Killer coming in November 2026. The reveal came during the 10th Anniversary Broadcast, which also teased upcoming chapters tied to Scooby-Doo and Diablo. Jason Voorhees and Frank Stone were confirmed as additional Killers in development.

On the technical side, the developer detailed a visual overhaul launching next year alongside gameplay changes. A new zombie mode was showcased, and a new Survivor character, Shane Wiigwaas, expands the roster. According to GameSpot, the game's graphic violence has escalated intentionally over time, reflecting evolving industry and cultural appetites for horror content. The shift marks a deliberate move away from the early philosophy of maximizing accessibility.

Beyond the game itself, a Dead by Daylight film is in the works. IGN reports the movie will be directed by Icelandic filmmaker Thordur Palsson (The Damned, The Valhalla Murders), with a screenplay by Alexandre Aja (Crawl, Never Let Go) and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick (The Conjuring series, Aquaman), produced by Blumhouse. One clarification the team made explicit: there is no Dead by Daylight 2 in development. "We are confident the answer is no," said executive producer Jose Ramos to GameSpot, while noting that nothing is entirely ruled out indefinitely.
