Star Wars Zero Company confirms no official mod support and linear story

Bit Reactor has confirmed new details about Star Wars Zero Company through a Discord Q&A session. According to lead producer Caydence Funk, despite the studio having "a lot of respect for the modding community," the game will not support official modifications.

The decision contrasts with the XCOM series, which inspired Zero Company and is renowned for its robust modding ecosystem. The studio, made up of XCOM veterans, chose not to provide official tools for the community to expand the title.

Regarding narrative, Bit Reactor confirmed that Star Wars Zero Company will follow a story "linear from beginning to end." According to PC Gamer, this means players should not expect branching paths or romance options, even though the game emphasizes character-driven storytelling and high-budget cutscenes.

The title is scheduled to launch in 2026 and promises to combine tactical mechanics with narrative focus, allowing deep customization of clone squads despite the fixed story structure.
