The Witcher 4 is already running on all of its target platforms. According to Michał Nowakowski, co-CEO of CD Projekt Red, the game can already be booted up and runs on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X, marking a shift in the studio's approach following Cyberpunk 2077's problematic launch.
The confirmation came during an interview with Game Developer as the studio addressed lessons from its previous release. Back then, CD Projekt Red claimed Cyberpunk 2077 ran "surprisingly well" on last-generation consoles, but reality proved otherwise: Sony was forced to temporarily remove the game from the PS Store due to widespread technical complaints.
Nowakowski also confirmed that The Witcher 4 will receive a physical edition even after Sony stops producing discs in 2028. While the studio has no control over hardware manufacturers' policies, it stated it has the power to make the physical release special for collectors.
The Witcher 4 is scheduled for 2028. Meanwhile, CD Projekt Red continues work on The Witcher 3 Remastered with help from a renowned modder and develops the expansions Songs of the Past, which reunites studio veterans after more than a decade.
