Rockstar Games unveiled new gameplay systems for Grand Theft Auto 6 through material released on Netflix. One centers on a relationship system governing the bond between co-protagonists Jason and Lucia, letting players nurture or neglect the relationship with potential narrative consequences.
The wanted system also underwent significant overhaul. According to Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson, the system now requires someone to witness a crime or an alarm to trigger police response. The mechanic allows players to split up during pursuits: police recognize the couple as a pair, so separating can lower police perception. The system also tracks the vehicle and appearance of characters, creating strategic opportunities to evade capture.
Rockstar also confirmed life simulation elements in the game, including weight and fatigue systems that affect the visual appearance of characters. These details are part of a broader refresh of GTA 6's core systems ahead of its November 19, 2026 launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
