Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, which reimagines the first adventure in the franchise, was demonstrated at Summer Game Fest 2026 with hands-on sessions for media. According to the PlayStation Blog, journalists spent roughly an hour playing through Lost Valley in Peru, including a modernized version of the series' iconic gear puzzle.
In the featured puzzle, two cogs must be reconnected to redirect a waterfall and unlock passage to deeper jungle areas. While the first cog is readily obtained, players must discover and solve additional challenges to secure the second mechanism.
Crystal Dynamics also addressed questions about generative AI in development. In interviews with Polygon and GameSpot, experience director Jeff Adams confirmed that AI was used only to generate "test assets"—temporary elements created during production. Lara Croft's design, the team emphasized, is "100% human-crafted," with no generative tools involved in her appearance.
The game remains in development for major platforms, with no official release date announced yet.
