Halo: Campaign Evolved is now live on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PlayStation 5, according to an official announcement on Xbox Wire. This marks the first time in 25 years that a Halo game launches on the same day across Microsoft and Sony's consoles, breaking the franchise's historic Xbox exclusivity.
The game is available day one with Xbox Game Pass. The PS5 version supports local split-screen co-op, as does Xbox, but the PC edition is limited to online co-op only. Modders have already released an unofficial solution that unlocks split-screen functionality that was already present but disabled in the PC code.
According to performance testing by Digital Foundry, the PS5 Pro delivers the best experience across platforms, with standard PS5 performing slightly better than Xbox Series X.
The remake features 39 collectible skulls compared to 10 in the original, new modes including Campaign Remix, and three bonus levels. A secret ending cutscene discovered by players hints that a Halo 2 remake may be in development.
NVIDIA released GeForce driver 610.88 with Game Ready optimizations for the title on launch day.
