Riot Games has delayed the introduction of last hit indicators in League of Legends ranked mode. The feature, which displays when a minion is about to die and can be eliminated by a single autoattack, was set to arrive soon but has been shelved following community reaction.
The system had been available in casual modes for several months as a testing phase. According to PC Gamer, Riot announced in patch notes earlier this week that the indicator would reach normal draft and ranked play, then reversed course in response to player sentiment.
The developer stated it wants to gather more data and feedback before implementing the feature permanently in competitive play. Last hitting is a cornerstone mechanic in League of Legends: eliminating a minion at the precise moment it dies grants gold and kill credit, essential for progression and in-game economy. While some players welcome the indicator as a valuable tool for newcomers, others contend it would oversimplify a skill considered critical to the competitive learning curve.
