During exclusive presentations to gaming media, Rockstar North confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI will not include microtransactions at launch. The statement was made by Rob Nelson, co-studio head of Rockstar North, to representatives from Kinda Funny Games during a visit to the company's Edinburgh headquarters.
The confirmation also extended to the use of generative AI tools. Rockstar reaffirmed that it did not use this type of technology in creating the game, distinguishing its approach at a time when the industry increasingly debates the role of artificial intelligence in game development.
The revelation is part of a larger set of information about GTA 6 that became public following the extended gameplay presentation of the title on Netflix, which reached 3.97 million simultaneous viewers, making it the largest gaming stream of 2026.
