It's official: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will feature campaign early access for players who pre-purchase the game. According to an announcement on Xbox Wire, early access begins October 16, one week before the global launch on October 23.
The benefit is available for pre-orders of the Standard Digital Edition or Vault Edition across Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, PC via Steam, and Battle.net. During the early access week, only the campaign will be playable; multiplayer unlocks on October 23 alongside the official release.
According to IGN, Modern Warfare 4 is the first game in the franchise to bring back this perk since Modern Warfare 3 in 2023. Both 2024's Black Ops 6 and 2025's Black Ops 7 skipped campaign early access, suggesting Activision is confident in this year's story mode.
