A massive archive containing approximately 12 terabytes of Valve's internal development files, dated between 2003 and 2013, has leaked online and is being combed through by dataminers. According to Eurogamer and PC Gamer, the leak began circulating on Saturday and includes builds and assets from various Valve projects spanning a decade.
The materials discovered include the complete Portal 2 beta from 2009, in-development builds of Left 4 Dead and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, alongside content related to F-Stop, a cancelled Portal prequel. TheGamer and GamesRadar confirm the archive also contains materials potentially tied to Half-Life 2: Episode Three, the third episode in the franchise that never shipped.
According to GamesRadar, the leak does not appear to be the result of hacking. The publication cites a YouTuber stating the archive was publicly accessible through an outdated content-delivery pipeline from Valve that was retired over a decade ago. "There has been no hacking. This is 100% Valve's fault," the cited comment reads.
