The Blood of Dawnwalker features unique time-driven quest system with player choice consequences

The PlayStation Blog has unveiled details about The Blood of Dawnwalker's central mechanic, a unique time-driven quest system in the vampire RPG being developed by Rebel Wolves, the studio led by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, former director of The Witcher 3. This system sets a distinctive gameplay feature at the game's core.

According to Sony, the game places the player as Coen, a resident of the small village of Laslea in the 14th century during the arrival of the Black Plague. When Coen is forcibly turned into a vampire, he becomes trapped between two states: human during the day, vampire at night. There are only 30 in-game days to save his family before consequences pile up.

Outlets including Eurogamer, PC Gamer, and GamesRadar gained four-hour hands-on access and highlighted how the choice system meaningfully shapes the world. "Time advances as the player acts, creating ripple effects in quests and what becomes possible," the practical reviews explain. Director Tomaszkiewicz has been open about The Witcher 3's influence, but critics note that Rebel Wolves brought its own ideas to the table, particularly drawing from the harder RPG style seen in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is scheduled for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, and promises to be one of 2026's most ambitious RPGs.
