Square Enix unveiled the first collaborative raids for Final Fantasy XIV Evercold at the 2026 Berlin Fan Festival. According to Polygon, FF14 producer Naoki Yoshida and FF7 Remake director Naoki Hamaguchi announced Beyond the Lifestream, the first official crossover between FF14 and the Final Fantasy VII series, as an eight-player raid.
The expansion will also receive Ghosts of Desire, a 24-player raid collaborating with Evangelion, launching in April 2026. Per Siliconera, the raid will feature work from artist Mahiro Maeda, known for his involvement in Evangelion 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time. Maeda will serve as designer and guest artist on the challenge.
Beyond the raids, Square Enix confirmed during the event the Nintendo Switch 2 release date for FF14: August 4, 2026. According to Siliconera, pre-orders are now open on the eShop. The game will have one subscription-free month from launch and will be offered in three versions, with the Dawntrail expansion available as DLC.
Yoshida also confirmed during Berlin Fan Fest gameplay changes coming to FF14 Evercold, including branching narrative paths in the expansion's main quests, aiming to refresh systems that have remained largely unchanged over the years. The expansion will introduce Bastion, a new Tank class never before seen in the Final Fantasy series.
