The Blood of Dawnwalker is now available

It's official: The Blood of Dawnwalker is out this week on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game marks the debut of Rebel Wolves, the studio created by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, director of The Witcher 3, and other CD Projekt Red alumni.

The action RPG is set in Vale Sangora, a medieval European landscape where protagonist Coen, turned into a vampire, has 30 days to save his family from a vampiric dictator. The time system advances as you complete quests, learn skills, and level up, forcing strategic decisions about which objectives to pursue.

Launch windows like this typically come with technical hurdles, and The Blood of Dawnwalker was no exception. According to Rock Paper Shotgun, the game faced issues with stuttering, controller mapping, and shader compilation, though developers provided temporary workarounds. Rebel Wolves released a first post-launch patch fixing quest progression blocks and controller behavior, but continues work on stuttering and other performance problems.

The modding community moved fast: within less than a day, a mod called "Better Story Timer" let players extend the 30-day limit to 90 days, remove time costs for skills, and increase time segments in a day. According to IGN, this change fundamentally alters the game's core design philosophy.
