Kernel Hearts, an action RPG by Ephemera Games, is now officially available on Xbox. The game puts players in control of magical girls fighting to save the world in a post-apocalyptic setting.
According to Xbox Wire, the title is far more than a simple pitch can capture. The game and its characters serve as a love letter to two cultures that shaped the developers' lives: Japanese culture inspired the art, story, and even the game's language itself, while Argentine culture (home to Ephemera Games) permeates everything in the experience. One concrete example is Fernet, a character who drinks Argentine beverages like mate during her idle animations.
The title combines action mechanics with narrative depth, offering a proposition that unites storytelling and gameplay through the lens of its cultural influences.
