BeamNG.drive, the vehicle physics simulator and destruction sandbox on Steam, has received its largest update to date, according to PC Gamer. Patch v0.39 brings massive graphics changes, including more stable shadows, HDR output support on Vulkan and Direct3D 12, physically correct light attenuation, and dynamic ambient lighting.
A standout addition is an accurate night sky. The patch notes state that "the sky is based on real astronomical values," featuring Milky Way rendering and a constellation database fully synchronized with latitude, longitude, date, and time of day. The game also now includes volumetric clouds.
Rock Paper Shotgun reports the update also adds new rally stages and a fresh sports coupe. BeamNG.drive is favored by automotive simulation enthusiasts for its soft-body physics precision, delivering dynamic damage deformation on collisions and robust modding support.
