Stephen Root, best known for voicing characters on the animated series King of the Hill, has officially confirmed his participation in Grand Theft Auto 6. The actor revealed his involvement during an interview with the Associated Press at the BAFTA TV Tea Party, held at The Maybourne Beverly Hills in California.
According to Root, "Yeah, you're gonna see me in it." He acknowledged that keeping the information under wraps proved nearly impossible given his public profile. "I think from the first rollout of GTA they were doing maybe almost a year ago they had my character in there. And there are too many people who knew me from King of the Hill and my voice, so I think that secret kind of got divulged then."
This marks the first official confirmation of a recognizable actor for GTA 6, breaking through Rockstar's tightly controlled marketing strategy surrounding the cast. Rockstar has previously cast acclaimed actors in supporting roles across earlier releases, including Kyle MacLachlan, Luis Guzmán, and Samuel L. Jackson in the PlayStation 2 trilogy.
GTA 6 is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, featuring protagonists Jason and Lucia in its main narrative.
