The new expansion draws heavily from "Batman: The Animated Series," the landmark series created by Bruce Timm and Paul Dini where Harley Quinn was first introduced to audiences. The studio made a point of honoring the original program, including cutscenes in 4:3 aspect ratio, the original television format from the 1990s. The expansion also includes references to other Batman media: films, shows, games, and comic book stories.
The DLC features a special tribute: a shop in Gotham City called "Sorkin's Gems," honoring Arleen Sorkin, the original voice actress of Harley Quinn, who passed away in 2023. According to Xbox Wire, Sorkin was instrumental in shaping the character that fans know today.
