The Lords of the End Times expansion released on September 24 for Total War: Warhammer 3, according to PC Gamer. The DLC introduces four new legendary lords, each with campaigns filled with exclusive mechanics available to both existing Warhammer 3 players and newcomers to the series.
The most distinctive mechanical system belongs to Nagash, the first and most powerful necromancer in the franchise. Rather than a standard tech tree, Nagash features a personal web of enhancements called the Black Pyramid, whose interlocking upgrade structure drew comparisons from PC Gamer to the kind of progression system found in action RPGs like Path of Exile, complete with its own built-in search bar.
All four lords from the expansion cost $9 when purchased individually. According to PC Gamer, any player who acquires one of these lords automatically unlocks Immortal Empires, the massive trilogy-spanning grand campaign comprising content developed over 10 years.
The expansion is accompanied by update 9.0, which according to GamesRadar makes the middle and late stages of Immortal Empires significantly more engaging while implementing the End Times as a meaningful campaign event. Creative Assembly confirmed that Lords of the End Times is not the conclusion for the series, with a spokesperson telling PC Gamer that "you can't get rid of us that easily," suggesting ongoing support going forward.
