Blizzard Entertainment officially announced World of Warcraft Forever during BlizzCon 2026's opening ceremony. According to GameSpot, the project is Blizzard's next iteration on WoW Classic, adding new content in the form of zones, quests, dungeons, raids, and a new playable race while keeping the old-school MMORPG's world and gameplay intact.
As reported by GamesRadar, the game launches on November 4, with a beta starting this Thursday, September 17. Executive producer Holly Longdale described it as "a new beginning that never ends," set around WoW's Year One. Shacknews notes that Forever reimagines Azeroth with new races, new lands, and over 1,000 new quests.
Unlike traditional WoW Classic progression through subsequent expansions, World of Warcraft Forever keeps focus on the two original continents, Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor, per GameSpot. The new content fills areas present on the vanilla WoW map but never accessible to players. The project includes nine new dungeons, two raids, and an additional PvP battleground.
According to Polygon, the project had been speculated and leaked for months by the community under the speculative name "WoW Classic Plus" before the official announcement. GamesRadar describes the proposition as friendly and familiar for both newcomers and longtime players, aiming to return to what made World of Warcraft iconic two decades ago.
