Dark Souls 2 gets seamless co-op mod after 18 months of development

According to PCGamesN, modder Yui has released seamless co-op support for Dark Souls 2 after a year and a half of development work. The achievement expands the creator's portfolio of multiplayer mods, which already includes implementations for Elden Ring, Dark Souls, Dark Souls 3, and Armored Core: Fires of Rubicon.

The seamless co-op mod enables players to connect without menu interruptions, a significant improvement over the game's standard multiplayer system. Implementing the feature in Dark Souls 2 proved particularly challenging given the 2014 game's engine and architecture, but Yui successfully completed the task.

Meanwhile, the Dark Souls 2 modding scene remains active on other fronts. As PC Gamer notes, modder Doneda has ported Frozen Eleum Loyce and Frigid Outskirts, areas from the Lost Crowns DLC, as a playable map in Elden Ring Nightreign.
