Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance removes character edit voucher microtransaction

Capcom announced during Tokyo Game Show 2026 the end of Monster Hunter Wilds' most controversial microtransaction. With the launch of Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance in 2027, players will be able to edit their hunter and Palico appearance as many times as they want, free of charge and without requiring vouchers.

Effective December 3, 2026, Character Edit Vouchers and Palico Edit Vouchers will be removed from sale across all platforms. On that date, all players will receive 20 free vouchers: 10 for hunter editing and 10 for Palico editing, each usable once. Switch 2 owners will get these at console launch.

The change responds to longstanding community criticism. Vouchers were introduced after the base game's release and sold only in packs of three. According to Siliconera, players who previously paid for customization will also receive special pendants as compensation.

Ascendance brings a new campaign with Master Rank, fresh areas, and new and returning monsters, including the Elder Dragon Teostra. The expansion represents Capcom's ongoing effort to refine and expand Monster Hunter Wilds since its 2025 launch.
