Arc Raiders' Frozen Trail update arrives on October 8 as the extraction shooter's largest expansion to date. According to Embark Studios, version 2.0 marks a new milestone for the game, with changes affecting nearly every aspect of gameplay.
The centerpiece is Pendola Pass, a snowy mountain region north of the Rust Belt and the most ambitious map the studio has created. The location features a unique "Flash Freeze" condition that penalizes players who stay exposed too long. The update also introduces four new ARC enemy types: the Frigate, a massive airborne carrier; the Bully, a four-legged creature using hit-and-run tactics; the Skulker, a ground-level pest that keeps its distance; and the Hydra, a stationary turret capable of targeting three players at once.
Weapon modification gets a major overhaul through "weapon amplification," a new endgame crafting system tied to an upgraded research bench in the raider outpost. The system lets players add unique functions to 15 different weapons, mounting a scope on the Renegade rifle or making the Burletta pistol fully automatic, for example. Developers say the goal is letting players customize loadouts for either PvP or PvE focus.
The battle pass system also changes. The new "Reward Pass" replaces the old Raider Decks with a free tier and a paid premium track at 1,150 Raider Tokens (roughly $10 USD). Completing the free tier grants enough tokens for the next pass, avoiding mandatory payment cycles. Only cosmetics appear in the paid tier; gameplay-altering items like new weapons remain locked to the free track.
