Take-Two goes to court against GTA 6 leaker, subpoenaing Microsoft and Discord

Unable to stop the Grand Theft Auto 6 gameplay leaks through takedown notices alone, Take-Two Interactive has turned to the courts. According to Eurogamer and PC Gamer, the publisher filed multiple subpoenas in federal district court requesting that Microsoft and Discord provide records on accounts involved in the leak.

The group behind the leaks, which calls itself Cyberleek, began sharing gameplay videos on August 18. The subpoena to Microsoft seeks records from OneDrive and Xbox accounts, while Discord's subpoena requests identifying information for users tied to servers that distributed the content. Both companies have until September 4 to comply.

The leaked videos indicate that the leaker has access to a playable build of GTA 6, as noted by Eurogamer. They show gameplay featuring protagonist Jason, the in-game radio with multiple stations, and even a moment where "LEEK" is spelled out using bullet holes in a wall, confirming hands-on manipulation of the build.

The leak happened days before Rockstar's official extended gameplay reveal scheduled for August 27 on Netflix. Rockstar has not commented publicly on the incident, though Bloomberg reported that internal staff are frustrated over how the access was compromised and when it occurred.
