Wardogs studio checks Steam profiles of new hires to confirm FPS passion

Bulkhead, the studio behind the breakout hit Wardogs, has implemented an unusual practice in its hiring process: checking the Steam profiles of all job applicants to verify they are FPS fans and passionate about the genre.

According to Joe Brammer, Bulkhead's executive director, the measure ensures that anyone joining the team truly understands the type of game the studio creates. As he explained, "You wouldn't let me go and make Final Fantasy" because he wouldn't know where to start in a genre outside his expertise. The same logic applies to hiring: want to work at Bulkhead, you need to prove your FPS credentials.

Brammer also addressed the studio's anti-cheat measures, describing them as "expensive" and a "risk" that Bulkhead is taking on. To him, the studio deserves recognition for that investment. "If you're an FPS fan, we're trying to do right by that audience", he stated, emphasizing that the company wants players to know where their money is going and what kind of studio they are supporting.

Wardogs has taken Steam by storm in its first week, establishing itself as one of the multiplayer standouts of the moment.
