Bit Reactor is bringing back developers who were furloughed before the launch of Star Wars Zero Company in August. CEO Greg Foertsch told Game File the studio "started the process of returning more of our team back to work," though he did not provide specific headcount figures.
The game launched to strong commercial and critical reception, selling one million units in its first month. However, celebration was dampened by a major portion of the team having been placed on unpaid leave days before release due to unexpected financial pressures. "Having to ask team members to step away after we navigated unexpected business developments out of our control and so close to launch was an incredibly difficult decision," Foertsch said.
According to sources cited by GameSpot, the current headcount following the return is more than half of what it was before the furloughs. Foertsch did not specify whether additional staff will be rehired in the future or if further layoffs may occur.
The developer return marks Bit Reactor's first major step toward stabilizing operations after the turbulent period surrounding Zero Company's release.
