Full details on DMZ, the extraction shooter mode for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, have been revealed. According to PlayStation Blog and Xbox Wire, the mode launches alongside Campaign and Multiplayer when Modern Warfare 4 releases on October 23.
DMZ returns as an evolution of the mode introduced in Modern Warfare II (2022), now with bigger ambitions. The Forward Operating Base (FOB) serves as your command center between matches, where players manage operators, prepare gear, and plan their next deployment. According to IGN, it will feature a 70-level progression system, significant rewards, and its own world building and lore.
Within the FOB, official sources confirm stations for firing range training (testing loadouts), item crafting using collected loot, intelligence gathering, and mission tracking for bosses and unique challenges. The mode takes place across the Hajin environment, featuring different zones and threats detailed in strategic guides.
Led by Infinity Ward, DMZ is positioned as the main attraction of Modern Warfare 4's multiplayer offering, replacing the traditional Zombies mode that appeared in previous titles as a post-launch focus.
