Battlefield 6 brings naval combat, Carrier Strike mode and Top Gun collaboration in Season 4

Battlefield 6 is bringing back naval warfare with Season 4 launching on July 21. According to Eurogamer and PC Gamer, update 1.4.1.0 introduces Tsuru Reef, the game's largest map to date, alongside new boats and naval combat weapons.

The main highlight is the resurrection of Carrier Strike mode in Season 4's second phase on August 18. As reported by PC Gamer, this is an evolved version of Battlefield 4's Carrier Assault, which itself was based on Battlefield 2142's Titan mode from 2006. The reworked mode keeps the core loop: two teams compete to sink the enemy aircraft carrier by capturing flags, launching missile barrages, and executing on-foot boarding assaults on the carriers themselves.

During the same phase, Wake Island receives a modern overhaul featuring aircraft carrier spawn points and beach assaults. Alongside the Top Gun collaboration (developed with Paramount Pictures), a new twin-seater jet styled after the films arrives in-game, though Tom Cruise does not appear as a character, according to Destructoid.

Naval warfare's return has been the most requested feature from the Battlefield 6 community since launch, making Season 4 one of the most anticipated updates for the game.
