Resident Evil: Veronica will be played entirely in third-person perspective, Capcom confirmed during interviews following the Summer Game Fest 2026 announcement. The reveal trailer featured first-person sequences, creating expectations that the game would offer switchable camera angles — a common practice in recent series entries like Resident Evil Village and Resident Evil Requiem. According to Capcom's producers, the first-person perspective shown in the trailer was a deliberate misdirection.
The remake follows the approach of Resident Evil 2 Remake, utilizing a fixed third-person camera. The team behind the new game is the same one that developed the Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4 remakes, ensuring visual and mechanical continuity with those titles. Unlike Requiem, which allowed perspective switching, Veronica will not offer this option to players.
Capcom also adjusted the title's nomenclature by dropping "Code" from the original name. The publisher explained that, since modern mainline Resident Evil games feature one-word subtitles (such as Village and Requiem), the remake follows this convention. The game is scheduled for 2027 and will continue Claire Redfield's story, potentially featuring direct connections to Resident Evil Requiem's events.
