Proto Man gameplay details revealed for Mega Man: Dual Override

Proto Man is confirmed as the second playable character in Mega Man: Dual Override, according to the PlayStation Blog. Unlike Mega Man, who is described as "balanced," Proto Man was designed as a close-range fighter with stronger melee attacks.

Progression mechanics differ between the two: while Mega Man gains new weapons by defeating enemies, Proto Man obtains new shield-based actions and new abilities instead. Both can equip Custom Chips, items that modify their playstyle and abilities, with over 50 options featuring passive and active effects available.

Proto Man can also access the Override form, a powered-up version that changes his appearance. The stage structure of the game also functions differently from past mainline titles, as detailed in Capcom's Tokyo Game Show 2026 presentation.

Mega Man: Dual Override continues development across multiple platforms.
