Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced arrives on consoles and PC tomorrow, July 9, having already earned positive scores from critics. According to Metacritic, the remake scored 84 on both PlayStation 5 and PC, while the Xbox Series X and S version landed at 81. On OpenCritic, the average sits at 87, with 94% of critics recommending the title.
The remake was built from the ground up using the latest version of the Anvil engine, the same technology powering Assassin's Creed Shadows. Ubisoft Singapore added new content to the 2013 classic, including original missions, improved naval combat, the ability to skip time during day cycles, and new areas to discover through a new dive-anywhere feature. The game preserves the original's structure, centering on piracy during the Golden Age of the Caribbean in the 18th century.
Steam pre-orders also signal strong momentum: market analysis shows the remake has already sold five times more copies in pre-release than Assassin's Creed Shadows accumulated before its launch. Analysts suggest Resynced could mark a significant turnaround for Ubisoft following recent disappointing releases from the publisher.
Nvidia and Intel released optimized drivers for the title in the days leading up to launch, with full support for both high-end hardware and handheld gaming PCs like the Steam Deck, which received official verification from Valve.
