Mortal Shell 2 launched on August 20 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, and developer Cold Symmetry has already rolled out its first balance patch. According to GameSpot, the update addressed one of the community's biggest complaints: gold farming in the game.
The patch brought significant adjustments to the resource economy. The most notable change is a refund of Glimpses, the rare currency used to unlock shell memories, for players who spent it discovering shell locations. Now, as GamesRadar reported, discovering shells costs Gloom (the game's version of Runes) instead of this rare currency.
Cold Symmetry also nerfed several enemies and bosses to make the experience more balanced, aligning with the developer's vision during the open beta. According to Rock Paper Shotgun, the update includes additional quality-of-life adjustments to smooth out the game's rough edges.
In a post on Reddit and the official Discord, the studio stated it is working on a larger patch that will be thoroughly tested. Planned future updates include expansions to popular features such as Night Mode, Tarstones, and PP Items.
