Super Mario Galaxy, one of Nintendo Wii's most celebrated titles, has been fully decompiled for the first time, according to TheGamer and GamesRadar. With decompilation complete, the fan community is already moving forward on creating an unofficial PC port.
The decompilation opens the door to features the original game never had, such as unlocked frame rates and extensive modding support. Developers involved in the project state that the code is "100% coded by humans," emphasizing the manual approach as opposed to using artificial intelligence.
This trend of decompiling classic games has gained momentum in the PC gaming scene in recent years, allowing titles that never reached the platform to be played natively. Games like Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Blue Dragon have undergone similar processes, offering enhanced experiences compared to traditional emulation.
There is no estimated release date for the Super Mario Galaxy PC port, and the project remains in development.
