Nintendo Switch Sports Resort will be bundled with the Nintendo Switch 2 at the console's launch this year, IGN confirmed following a hands-on preview at Gamescom. The game brings back Wuhu Island as a central hub, serving as a relaxed exploration space alongside traditional competitive multiplayer modes.
The title returns classic sports including bowling, golf, tennis, and table tennis, while also introducing activities inspired by Nintendo franchises. These include skateboarding (akin to Tony Hawk's Pro Skater), jet skiing (similar to Wave Race), and stunt flying (in the Pilotwings vein). New activities also feature boxing, archery, thumb wrestling, and prop plane stunts, according to coverage from Eurogamer, Nintendo Life, and Shacknews.
Motion controls have been redesigned with Joy-Con 2, delivering improved responsiveness compared to the original Switch Sports. GamesRadar noted that the game maintains the competitive edge characteristic of Nintendo's sports titles, naturally drawing out competitive instincts in multiplayer play.
The bundle with the new console positions Nintendo Switch Sports Resort as a centerpiece launch title for Switch 2, echoing Nintendo's longstanding strategy of pairing sports multiplayer games with new hardware releases.
