Polyarc, developer of Moss, shuts down after 12 years

Polyarc Games announced its closure on Thursday, September 11, 2026. In a LinkedIn post, the Seattle-based studio revealed it has ceased operations and is winding down active development across its projects.

"After nearly 12 years riding the joyous rollercoaster of emotions that is making video games, our time together has come to an end. As we wind down active development, we are saying our farewells to each other," Polyarc stated in its official announcement.

Founded in 2015, the developer became known for the Moss series, VR platformers that debuted as a PlayStation VR exclusive in 2018 before launching on Steam. Moss and its sequel, Moss: Book II, earned critical acclaim and established themselves as standout VR titles, recognized for their storytelling and ability to foster emotional connection between player and character.

Polyarc's closure marks another setback for the VR industry, which has faced significant commercial and market challenges throughout 2026.
