It's official: The Witcher 3's first major expansion in over a decade will debut at Gamescom 2026's Opening Night Live showcase on August 25. According to CD Projekt Red, the event kicks off at 11am PT / 2pm ET / 8pm CEST and will reveal "new information" about the expansion.
Songs of the Past was announced in May as the third large-scale expansion for the fantasy RPG, arriving 12 years after the original release and 11 years after Blood and Wine, the second expansion. Per Polygon, the content is expected to be comparable in size to the second expansion, signaling a substantial addition to the game.
The expansion is being developed jointly by CD Projekt Red and Fool's Theory, the studio remaking The Witcher 1. Launch is planned for 2027. For attendees traveling to Cologne, Germany, CD Projekt Red will also host a guided presentation during the event, according to GamesRadar.
