Saber Interactive denies generative AI use in Space Marine 3

Tim Willits, chief creative officer (CCO) of Saber Interactive, confirmed at Gamescom 2026 that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 does not use generative AI in its development. According to PC Gamer, Willits stated: "There is absolutely no generative AI in Space Marine 3 or Hellraiser or Stuntman or Turok or Jurassic Park."

The statement follows Saber Interactive facing significant public backlash over its use of generative AI in Rideshare Stimulator. A former employee exposed the technology's implementation, sparking community criticism. The studio had previously defended its position, and Willits now extends that stance explicitly to the company's licensed titles.

Willits also addressed environmental concerns surrounding AI in game development. In conversation with PC Gamer, he acknowledged the ecological footprint of data centers required to process AI, citing recent climate disasters as motivation for society to address the issue.

Space Marine 3 is in development at Saber Interactive for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. The game continues the Warhammer 40,000 action franchise.
