Valve has rolled out a significant Counter-Strike 2 update introducing two standout features: Rush, a quick 3v3 queued mode with randomized arenas, and a chicken pet system powered by collectible eggs.
Rush mode delivers fast-paced gameplay with rounds lasting approximately 40 seconds on compact arenas. Teams win by eliminating opponents or controlling a central tower until time runs out. Each arena is randomly selected, ensuring no two matches play the same way.
The chicken pets originated as a mystery embedded in the game's source code. Players now receive collectible eggs through weekly drops. After roughly a week in inventory, eggs hatch into chicks. Feeding them causes them to grow into adult chickens that perch on player character shoulders in the equipment screen and throughout lobbies. Eggs cannot be traded or sold on the marketplace.
The patch also delivered sound improvements, updated Premier mode with new map pick/ban mechanics, and various quality-of-life adjustments. Players had anticipated anti-cheat enhancements that did not make it into this release.
