Final Fantasy VII Revelation's Platinum trophy will be significantly easier to obtain than its predecessor, according to director Naoki Hamaguchi in an interview with Anime News Network at Tokyo Game Show 2026.
Rebirth saw only 2.3% of players on Steam earn the Platinum trophy. Hamaguchi explained that the previous design was intentionally demanding, requiring players to complete and master all content, including post-game VR boss gauntlets that required near-perfect execution.
For Revelation, Square Enix has taken a different approach. Hamaguchi expects that "twenty percent of players or maybe even more than that" will be able to obtain the Platinum in the final installment of the remake trilogy. The director acknowledged the feedback regarding the previous difficulty and adjusted the completion trophy design to be more achievable.
The shift represents a balance between maintaining meaningful challenges for completionists while allowing a larger portion of the player base to reach 100% completion goals.
