The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered launched yesterday to massive uptake: according to Eurogamer, the game achieved its highest concurrent player count on Steam, with 120,975 users online simultaneously. The figure surpasses the previous record of 103,329 players set in January 2020 when the Netflix series debuted.
As GameSpot reports, the remaster is available as a free update to everyone who already owns the original 2015 RPG across any platform or format (digital or physical). The title is also available on GOG, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. The update brings substantial graphical improvements, combat adjustments, revised skill progression, and quality-of-life systems including the Loot Merge feature.
Eurogamer notes that the launch has broadly reinvigorated interest in the 2015 RPG itself. However, not all feedback has been uniformly positive. Push Square reports that some PS5 Pro players are experiencing significant performance variations without clear explanation, though the outlet's own testing found stable performance outside of autosave hitching issues.
Further, Eurogamer highlights that new lighting changes have divided the community: some players argue the revised lighting system makes the game appear brighter and washed out. Despite pointed criticism in certain areas, Adrenaline confirms the Remastered version achieved a Metacritic score of 94, making it the highest-rated game of 2026 so far on the aggregator.
