A near 200 GB leak of Grand Theft Auto V source code surfaced online this week, exposing scrapped content and canceled expansion plans from the studio. According to IGN, Rockstar Games had planned an ambitious, city-sized Liberty City DLC for the game that was ultimately shelved.
The material, which dwarfs the roughly 4 GB version that leaked in 2023, includes cut missions and complete details of the canceled expansion. Modders like TJGM have begun analyzing the files and reconstructed the planned Liberty City layout using shoreline data embedded in the code, revealing the city would have been substantially larger than the one featured in GTA 4.
The leak also surfaces references to the long-rumored Agent Trevor DLC, a single-player expansion that never materialized for the public. According to GameSpot, the dump contains development tools, assets, and cut dialogue that showcase Rockstar's initial ambitions for post-launch content.
GTA Online's enormous success steered the company away from story DLC toward multiplayer-focused updates instead. The leak provides a rare window into what might have been for game enthusiasts and researchers studying cut content from major industry titles.
