Wardogs, the new tactical shooter from British developer Bulkhead, sold 1.25 million copies within the first 24 hours of its early access launch on Steam on September 10. According to PC Gamer and Eurogamer, the game also reached over 340,000 concurrent players, a significant milestone for a multiplayer launch.
The success was so intense that servers could not handle the demand. Per GamesRadar, the peak of 340,000 players coincided with long queues and infrastructure problems. Bulkhead CEO Joe Brammer publicly acknowledged the issues on Twitter, stating that the team had to "fix the queue now or we're fucked."
The situation worsened when streamers received priority queue access while paying players waited hours in line, according to Destructoid. The decision sparked backlash and a wave of negative reviews on Steam, causing the game's rating to drop from "Very Positive" to "Mixed."
Publisher Team 17 confirmed to Push Square that console versions are also coming, including PlayStation 5. Wardogs is a tactical shooter inspired by the popular Arma 3 mod, featuring gameplay mechanics centered around in-game economy and defined battlefield roles.
