Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 received an emergency patch over the weekend to address issues caused by hacker attacks on PS4 and PS5, according to Eurogamer and Push Square. Attackers were forcing player accounts into unreachable Prestige levels, which caused the game to crash.
Activision warned that players might see an "account banned" message temporarily, but in most cases it would not indicate an actual ban. The update aims to distinguish between genuinely banned accounts and those affected by the hacker attacks.
Black Ops ports for PS5 have performed well commercially but have faced multiple security issues since launch. This is the latest incident in a series of vulnerabilities that have harmed player experience on these versions.
