The beta for World of Warcraft: Forever, the new MMO chapter revealed at BlizzCon 2026, went live today but immediately faced server instability. According to PC Gamer, players encountered hour-long queue times and repeated disconnections that prevented most from accessing the servers.
Blizzard's developers acknowledged the crisis publicly. GamesRadar reported that senior game producer Tom Ellis called the situation "a bit excessive for a beta" and asked for patience as services were scaled up. Associate production director Clayton Stone said the number of people "hammering at the door of the beta is insane."
Despite the technical turmoil, some players and streamers did get in. GameSpot revealed the game is fully playable with a controller, marking the first time World of Warcraft offers native gamepad support outside the franchise's traditional mouse-and-keyboard setup.
Dataminers have already uncovered new mechanics, including unique set bonuses on gear across all levels, as reported by PC Gamer via WOWHead. Blizzard confirmed everyone interested will eventually gain access as final issues are resolved. The game launches in November 2026.
