Arc Raiders' Frozen Trail update went live on October 8 across PC and consoles, marking the studio's biggest content drop in six months. According to PC Gamer, the standout feature is a grapple hook that uses rope simulation rather than instant teleportation, enabling vertical climbing, rooftop swinging, and safe descents from tall buildings. The tool anchors to nearly any surface and can be redeployed midair without cooldown.
The new map takes players to Pendola Pass, a frozen region beyond the game's known world where a massive Walker has mysteriously stopped functioning. As Adrenaline reported, understanding what happened to the unit is a key objective for players exploring the area. The update introduces new enemy types, weapons, and a quest called Clean Hands that introduces players to the region.
Executive producer Aleksander Grøndal told GamesRadar+ that Embark deliberately slowed its content cadence after months of live service pressure. The studio faced developer burnout and emotional strain from relentless update cycles, prompting a shift toward larger, less frequent content drops. Grøndal advised players running out of content to "take a break and play some other games" until the next update cycle arrives.
