Terranigma, developed by defunct studio Quintet and published by Enix (now Square Enix), launches January 14 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, Switch and PC via Steam and GOG. It marks the first official North American release of the 1995 SNES JRPG.
According to GamesRadar, the title has remained trapped in licensing limbo since its original Super Nintendo debut. The remaster is being developed by Clear River Games and features gameplay updates along with a new engine.
A deluxe collector's edition called the Gaia Edition will be priced at $200. Physical editions will be available across all console platforms, while PC receives a digital version.
Terranigma is part of Quintet's legacy of SNES classics, the studio also behind ActRaiser and Illusion of Gaia. With this release, Square Enix revisits the strategy of making long-unavailable historical titles accessible to Western audiences.
