It's official: GTA 6 has received its M (Mature) rating from the ESRB and 18+ classification from other regions, as confirmed by updated listings on the PlayStation Store and Rockstar's website. The rating carries the expected descriptors for the franchise: blood and gore, intense violence, mature humor, nudity, strong language, strong sexual content, and use of drugs and alcohol.
The most notable detail emerges from the classification descriptions in Australia and New Zealand: unlike GTA 5, GTA 6's official rating explicitly mentions "sex scenes" in the game. According to IGN, GTA 5's store listing historically made no such mention, despite containing at least one such scene.
The rating also confirms the presence of in-game purchases and DLC content, information appearing across official store descriptions. The classification mirrors GTA 5's content descriptors, maintaining the same mature content standards that have defined the franchise for adult audiences.
GTA 6 is scheduled to launch in 2025 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, with a PC version confirmed to follow later.
