Employees at Quantic Dream have launched a strike to oppose plans to lay off 115 staff members as part of what the studio described as an internal reorganization. According to developers working on the project, cited by outlets including Eurogamer and Rock Paper Shotgun, Star Wars Eclipse "literally cannot be finished" without maintaining the current team size.
The action was backed by STJV, the French video game union, which organized demonstrations at Quantic Dream's physical studio in Paris. The studio, owned by Chinese company NetEase, recently canceled Spellcasters Chronicles, a project that had consumed substantial resources.
Developers argue that reducing the workforce would undermine the creative capacity required to complete the ambitious Star Wars title. The strike represents an effort to pressure management to reconsider the restructuring before layoffs take effect.
